A one off vintage Spear & Jackson saw with a broad rectangular blade and beautifully shaped wooden handle.
The deep straight blade has a wonderfully severe silhouette, with a darkened finish that still allows areas of its age and surface texture to show through. The original wooden handle has a rich warm tone, finished with brass fixings, the Spear & Jackson name and a beautifully preserved gold maker’s emblem.
There is something particularly imposing about the proportions of this one. The broad blade and sculptural handle give it an almost ceremonial appearance when removed from its usual surroundings and displayed on a wall.
Perfect amongst gothic gallery walls, antique curiosities and darker collections, and certainly not one for the conventional home.
